Mann. Here is a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1954. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9875 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9875 is an EF-15A constructed in September of 1952 and retired in October of 1967 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, this A-B-A set is pulling a TrucTrain around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. (Gift from Brad Mann.) |
