Here is the third of three successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the Ivy City Yard in Washington, D.C., c. 1953. Shown here is Baltimore & Ohio Railroad engine #5218, a P-5 (4-6-2) "Pacific" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during June of 1919 and retired in October of 1956 after 37 years of faithful service. Partially visible in the background is the soon-to-be-obsolete Ivy City Coaling Tipple.
